Contract Update 03/03/2010.....SSA's bargaining unit employees and their families could suffer tremendously under a proposal put forth by management.


Contract Update 02/22/2010..... Does This Sound Fair To You?  The Social Security Administration is famous for disciplining members of the bargaining unit for the smallest perceived infraction while management officials who commit much more serious offenses are given award money and promotions.

..... SSA: So What's Wrong With A Little Discrimination?  During recent contract negotiations, SSA representatives proposed that there should be NO Union (and therefore employee) involvement in the creation of affirmative action plans.

.....Credit Hours, AWS, and Flextime on Chopping Block! Too many management officials within Social Security crave power. They want to dominate every aspect of an employee's life, and now, SSa's bargaining team wants those same managers and supervisors to have even more control.

Contract Update 01/25/2010.....Employee Rights Under Attack!  As contract negotiations continue between AFGE and the Social Security Administration, it's becoming more aparent that agency officials want to further reduce employee rights.


Contract Update 12/31/2009.....Despite Numerous grievances, Unfair Labor Practices, and outrageous examples of management behavior, high ranking officials with the Social Security Administration still believe the 2005 AFGE/SSA contract was a good one.


Contract Update 12/07/2009.....Officials from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) met last week to begin discussions on contract proposals.

Negotiations between AFGE and the Social Security Administration over a new National Agreement have begun.  Opening statements were given by each side; labor and management then met daily in groups to discuss key articles of the contract. 

 

The parties exchanged proposals in late December and are scheduled to proceed through at least July 2010. 

 

This will be a very long process, and input from the bargaining unit is vital.  Our Union leaders cannot do this alone.  They will need your ideas and suggestions during every step of negotiations.
