AFGE Contract 2009

How you can help

Unions are dedicated to helping their members succeed and prosper.  To make that happen, everyone should get involved – and participation is especially important during contract negotiations.

There are a number of ways to become active in your Union:

Become a union member. (Enrollment Form 1187)

Become a steward and work on representational issues.

Attend your Local’s meetings and let other Union members know about conditions in your office, problems that exist there, and other concerns.

Write articles for your Local’s newsletter.  Management does not like the spotlight to shine on them, but well-written stories can bring significant changes to an office or a Payment Center.

Make a financial contribution.

The Union spends a great deal of money on lobbying for better working conditions, pay, and benefits.  Even a small donation can make a big difference.

To help your Union, go to the “Contact Us” page of this website and provide your name, address, etc.  An AFGE representative will contact you shortly.
